“I played at Wembley with Argentina, not with Inter, but we hope to see a great game this evening,” the Vice-President told Sky Sport Italia.

Spurs made a lot of changes to their starting XI, leaving the likes of Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier and Son Heung-Min on the bench.

“I was a little surprised, but knowing Mauricio, he prepared well for this game and the XI he chose give him more certainty to create us problems.

“This evening is an important test to continue the growth process. I am sure the Coach and lads prepared for this knowing full well the kind of game and opponent we are going into.

“Tottenham are sure to start with a lot of intensity, but also leave some spaces at the back and that is where we must be intelligent to take advantage.”

Although it is not yet official, former Juventus chief Beppe Marotta is due to be announced as a new Inter director.

“We are talking about a director of great experience and capability. He will integrate with a group of directors who are already working well since the Zhang family and Suning took charge. We know that Inter need something more to be part of the European elite, but we trust Marotta will give us a big hand with that.”
