Inter Vice-president Javier Zanetti insists Juventus are not an example for his club to follow.

The Old Lady have won the last five Serie A titles and reached the Champions League final in recent years, while the Nerazzurri have consistently underachieved.

However, following the Suning Holdings Group’s takeover of the San Siro club and the recent appointment of Frank De Boer as Coach, the Argentine believes it is an exciting time for the club.

“Juve are not a reference point for us, we are a different club and we run in a different way,” Zanetti told Italian radio. “We will try to bring success with our own mentality.

“Chinese is not easy, but we manage to understand each other! Suning are a very strong and serious group, there is a lot of desire to plan for the present and future.

“De Boer is doing a great job. The early difficulties were predictable, he still needs to get to know Italian football but he is showing great professionalism.

“Inter are growing game by game, we hope it takes us high up in the table.”

Zanetti also commented on De Boer’s controversial substitution of Geoffrey Kondogbia during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Bologna.

“He [De Boer] realised that he needed to change it because the team needed other characteristics and he was in no doubt to do it.

“However, Kondogbia should not be frozen out, he just didn’t interpret that match in the way Frank wanted.”

The former Inter captain, currently serving as Vice-president, was then asked whether he had aspirations to eventually become the club’s President outright.

“I am having my journey and I am very happy with the opportunities I am getting, I thank the President Thohir and the new ownership, who have great confidence in me.

“I am happy with what I am doing, you can see the results and I hope that Inter can always aim for great accomplishments.”
