Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti said the club “proved we have faith” in Walter Mazzarri, but expects a response against Saint-Etienne.

The Nerazzurri are fresh from a 2-0 Serie A defeat to Parma, which put Coach Mazzarri under even more pressure.

“It is a tough moment, but tonight there’s a great chance to emerge from this difficult situation,” Zanetti told Sport Mediaset.

“All the staff are working to ensure the team can give its best and we hope to have a great game. We have to focus on one match at a time. The important thing now is to ensure qualification, which is fundamental for us, then we can think about Verona.

“How do we emerge from the crisis? Work, work and the most important thing is what you do on the field.

“As a club we proved that we have faith in the Coach and in the squad. This evening they can give a good response and I hope that happens.

“I expect a performance and a result. To emerge from a difficult situation you must work and let facts do the talking. It’s a great opportunity for the team to prove what it can give.”
