Gigi Di Biagio is “happy and optimistic” after Italy drew England, Portugal and Sweden in the Under-21 European Championship.

The Azzurrini were picked in Group B and begin their campaign against Sweden on June 18 2015, face Portugal on June 21 and finish on June 24 with England.

“It is a very difficult group, but I am happy and optimistic, as I would’ve been with any of the other teams in the draw,” said Coach Di Biagio.

“England eliminated Croatia, Portugal knocked Holland out and Sweden got past France in the play-offs.

“I have never faced any of these teams, but it is evident they are three strong sides and this is a group of death.

“Now we finally have something to focus on in our preparations for the tournament. We know who we’ll be playing and will work with the usual effort and determination.”

The Italy Under-21 side will face Denmark in a friendly on Monday November 17.

Denmark are in Group A along with Germany, the Czech Republic and Serbia.
