“It’s always an important game, these are two teams rich in history and tradition. I can’t wait for it,” Zanetti told reporters.

“I know Leo [Messi] well. The important thing is he recovers in the best possible way. We know what kind of player he is and having him against is always complicated.

“We’ve had a great start, but the season is still long. So much of it remains. Today’s game is very important because it’ll tell us where we are.”

The Vice-President was part of the Nerazzurri side who won the competition in 2010, eliminating Barca en route in the semi-finals…

“There are no favourites in these games. The match will be between two great teams with great players, and it must be played.

“Coming here is always difficult, but we believe in our chances.”
