The Argentine-born Italian international came off the bench in the second half to cancel out Stephan El Shaarawy’s effort.

“It was a special night for Schelotto and we're all happy for him,” the captain noted. “He got his chance and he took it well.”

Milan had the better of the opening exchanges, but the Beneamata hit back after the break thanks to a strong reaction.

“It was a very intense derby,” the veteran added. “Milan were better than us in the first period, but Inter pulled out all the stops to get the equaliser.

“I'm especially pleased with how we did in the second half and how we approached the game. It's all to play for now.”

Inter are just one point behind-third placed Milan in the standings.
