Maurizio Zamparini has reflected on his past situation with Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli, as well as his current one with left-back Federico Balzaretti.

Full-back Balzaretti, who is currently on duty with the Azzurri in this summer’s European Championships, has attracted a number of rumours.

With the player’s contract having just a year left to run, amid reports that he has rejected the chance to sign a new one, there have been continuous links with Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Milan.

However, when asked of Balzaretti’s performances for Italy perhaps raising his asking price, Rosanero President Zamparini has again declared his stance on the situation.

“No, his valuation has not increased by anything,” the Palermo owner told Radio2 on Monday.

“If anything, it has increased the desire to renew his contract, which is set to expire next year. I am not willing to sell him.”

During this interview, the President was also asked about his relationship with current Italy CT Prandelli, from their time together at Venezia. Prandelli took the team to Serie A in his first season, in 2000-01, but was removed from office by Zamp very soon into his second term.

“I sacked him 15 years ago when he was Coach of Venezia. Prandelli was with Venezia one year and five Sundays with me.

“I excused him because he lost the first five games of the season. If I don’t pay at least two Coaches a year then I’m not happy.”
