The Rossoneri are counting on the Serbian Coach to lift them from their years of crisis, but according to the Rosanero patron, the intuition didn't come from President Silvio Berlusconi.

“I'm on excellent terms with Berlusconi,” he said, in an interview with Il Corriere della Sera.

“When I went to see him in Arcore, he told me 'I'll leave politics and invest everything in football'.

“He wanted a new Coach and he thought of [Azzurri Coach Antonio] Conte.

“I was the one who told him to pick up Mihajlovic. He's got guts, he's the best around.”

Zamparini also recounted an episode relative to Milan's joint-CEO Adriano Galliani's election as President of the Lega Calcio.

“Those were the times when Berlusconi had just become Prime Minister.

“I even voted for him, and I told Galliani, 'now you represent all of Italian football, not just Milan'.

“Instead both of them minded their own damn business.

“Adriano, for the sake of Milan, would cause all sorts of trouble. It's the only value he knows.”
