The Italian international has been heavily linked with Milan, with reports that the Rossoneri could sign him in January, but leave him in Sicily until the summer.

“He’s a player who is being looked at by many teams, but he won’t move in January,” Zamparini told Gr Parlamento.

“I hope that a sheikh will come in June so we can keep him. I hope he stays with us to form a very strong team, but if no-one comes in it’s not possible.”

The Rosanero patron also explained his reasoning after sacking Coach Beppe Iachini.

“In the last period with Iachini, there was no feeling. In the end Iachini changed, not me, I think it was for personal reasons.

“The team was fading and had no reaction, if we’d lost 4-1 to Chievo it would have been fair. I was worried, the team wasn’t playing and there was no harmony between the club and the Coach.

“I decided for the good of the club, I hope I’ve guessed right in my choice.”
