Maurizio Zamparini says Palermo’s poor season is down to “the changes of Coach I had to make”.

The Rosanero have made nine changes on the bench this season, with Davide Ballardini returning for a second spell this week after Walter Novellino was dismissed.

“On a technical level Palermo are OK,” Zamparini explained to ANSA.

“Let’s see if the players have the attributes to get out of this crisis now. I’ve retraced my steps, recalling Ballardini because he was my first choice after [Beppe] Iachini was sacked.

“The cause of the tragedy that is this season is the changes of Coach I had to make, I wish Ballardini had stayed the whole time.”

The patron was then asked if he believes Palermo will survive this season.

“I do what I can as President, maybe Presidents can't affect results. I’m here because we’re in a difficult period, and we must have the desire to get out of it.

“I’m close to the team because I want to help them, that’s the target for this stage of the season.”
