Maurizio Zamparini has revelled in beating former Coach Delio Rossi on Sunday and also given his thoughts on Alexandros Tzorvas’s situation.

Speaking to La Repubblica on Tuesday, Palermo President Zamparini conceded that his team’s weekend 2-0 win over Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”10″>Fiorentina was special for the fact that Rossi was overseeing the Rosanero’s opponents.

Whilst explaining that there was no malice to this assertion, Zamparini also had a curious, related dedication.

“This win is dedicated to all those who believed that Palermo was Delio Rossi and that the club did not count for anything. Fortunately there are few that think this, but my dedication is to them and them alone.

“Yes I enjoyed the win a lot, I enjoyed it twice over. I imagine that Rossi would have done just the same had he won the game. It is not from dislike, only football rivalry.”

Zamparini admitted that he was in agreement with Devis Mangia’s surprising decision to exclude goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas.

Despite seeing the 29-year-old develop steadily between the sticks since arriving from Panathinaikos in the summer, Mangia dropped him in favour of Francesco Benussi for the belief that the Greek needs to ‘improve his communication with teammates’.

“I was aware of this and endorsed it,” confirmed Zamparini. “Beyond the beautiful saves, a goalkeeper has to transmit security to his team. Tzorvas still has some difficultly communicating.

“Soon after arriving, [Armin] Bacinovic also realised how important it was to speak Italian. I’m sure that he will return, Tzorvas is important for our team and that is even as I enjoyed the performance of Benussi.

“It is better to have two good goalkeepers than none at all.”
