Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has warned Paulo Dybala’s agency that he will expose the “extortion and fraud” that he was subjected to in court.

Speaking after Unicredit had frozen his €2.5m overdraft, Zamparini vowed to come down hard on the “thugs”, led by agent Gustavo Mascardi, whose England-based agency won €15m in damages against the 76-year-old over Dybala’s 2012 transfer to Palermo from Instituto de Cordoba.

“If I’m not protected, I’ll bring the books into court,” he told La Repubblica.

“I don’t want to be blackmailed by this gang of thugs. If the judge says I’m wrong then I’ll pay, but I know I’m right. I was a victim of extortion and fraud.

“These companies are shelf companies. If I paid the money, it would be an illegal transfer of capital abroad.”
