Japan boss Alberto Zaccheroni will go back to Asia to discuss his future with the national team.

The Blue Samurai crashed out of the World Cup on Tuesday at the group stage following a comprehensive 4-1 defeat to Colombia.

As such, the Italian tactician is widely expected to be relieved of his duties – but the Coach has insisted that first he will talk through matters with the Federation.

“Being at the World Cup has been incredible experience,” he told reporters.

“Being at the World Cup has been incredible experience,” he told reporters.

“Now we will go back to Japan and after that, I will speak with the management and we will let you know whether or not I will stay.

“I think it's appropriate for this question to be discussed within the team first.”

Zaccheroni is one of the candidates in line for the Italy job, following Cesare Prandelli’s resignation yesterday.

The 61-year-old is in the frame alongside Roberto Mancini, Massimiliano Allegri and Luciano Spalletti.
