Ahead of a potential legal battle, De Telegraaf claims the German was ‘shocked’ by some aspects of Naples, finding it ‘too poor and undeveloped’ for his liking.

However, the biggest deterrent would have been standing face-to-face wiith ‘a group of Camorristi’, although it is not explained why the encounter happened.

The Camorra is a crime syndicate in the region of Campania, which has been compared to the Sicilian Mafia.

De Telegraaf adds the 24-year-old was also disheartened by a conversation with Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, who told him the first six months of his five-year contract would be used for adaptation purposes.

Younes, for his part, will not play another competitive match for Ajax this season after being dropped to their reserve team.
