Milan defender Cristian Zapata has admitted that he has to work harder if he's to make the Rossoneri starting XI next season.

And the 26-year-old has conceded that despite playing 23 times for Massimiliano Allegri's team in 2012/13, he has to up his game for next term.

“I had a great season at Milan,” he told reporters in his home country. “I've done well and I'm pleased with how I've performed.

“But this is a very competitive team and anyone can get a starting place.

“You have to work every single day to earn your place.

“And that's what I plan to do.”
