Mario Yepes is in optimistic mood ahead of Atalanta’s visit to struggling Milan on Monday.

“We know that playing against Milan is never easy for anybody, especially at their ground,” said the Colombian international.

“But we’ve shown this year we can hold our own against the top teams and therefore we go to Milan to give our best and take advantage of the opportunities which are presented to us.”

Atalanta, who are just a point behind the Diavolo in the standings, netted the 37-year-old in the summer from Milan on a Bosman free transfer.

Yepes has had his injury problems since his move to Bergamo, seeing as he has appeared in just nine League games so far this term.

“Unfortunately an injury has kept me out for a long time, but I’m better now,” the South American continued.

“I’m available for selection and I hope to give my contribution soon and help the side get as many points as possible.”
