Belgium Coach Marc Wilmots admits he cannot stop Radja Nainggolan smoking, “or he’d have wrecked his room.”

The Roma midfielder scored a late goal to beat Sweden 1-0 and secure their spot in the Euro 2016 knockout phase.

However, he has been causing some headlines in his homeland over a nasty habit.

“I confirm, Radja does smoke,” Wilmots told Sporza.be.

“It is a habit seen in France and Italy, where many players smoke. I am flexible at this level. It’s his body and as long as his performances on the field are positive, it’s not a problem for me.

“In training retreats I always try to give him a room with a balcony so he doesn’t set off the smoke alarms. I think he’s the only one among the current Red Devils squad to smoke.

“If I had tried to ban him from smoking five or six cigarettes a day, I think he would’ve wrecked his room. It’s his problem if he plays to 30 years old instead of 35.”
