Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo could have made an early Serie A return in January, joining his brother at Sassuolo, but the Red Devils picked Rangers instead.

The 19-year-old moved to Old Trafford in a €40m deal from Atalanta in 2020 and the Premier League giants loaned him out to Rangers in the January transfer window to let him get more experience and playing time.

Calciomercato.com reports that Diallo could have moved to Sassuolo in the winter transfer window, where he would have reunited with his brother Hamed Junior Traorè.

The Neroverdi had made their move to sign Diallo on a temporary deal after Jeremie Boga’s Atalanta switch. However, Manchester United picked Rangers instead because they want Diallo to develop in a league similar to the English one.

The Red Devils have complete trust in Diallo and the player will return to Old Trafford at the end of the season. The 19-year-old scored on his debut in the Scottish Premiership against Ross County on January 29.
