The news of sanctions against Roman Abramovich and Chelsea should not concern Inter, as it’s reported the Romelu Lukaku transfer fee has already been paid.

The UK announced new sanctions on Russian oligarchs as part of the economic consequences of the invasion of Ukraine, including Chelsea owner Abramovich.

His UK assets are frozen, so the club cannot complete any transfers, negotiate new contracts or even sell new tickets.

Inter fans were concerned this might also mean their payment for existing transfers could be in doubt, specifically the €113m plus bonuses to purchase Lukaku.

According to Calciomercato.com, this will not be an issue because Inter have already received the full sum.

Chelsea agreed terms that would see them pay the full transfer fee over several instalments.

So Inter seemingly approached an agency that took on the money for a small fee, therefore giving Inter an immediate injection of liquidity so they would not need to wait.
