Almost a year after his arrival in the Lombardy capital, Robin Gosens has still failed to make a strong impact at Inter but he refused to make the move to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The 28-year-old German full back joined the Nerazzurri in the final days of the January transfer window earlier this year, arriving with a serious hamstring Injury that majorly disrupted his 2021-22 season. Inter were aware of the issue before signing him but had also expected to have him at his best by this point, something that’s clearly not the case as he continues to play a backup role.

Calciomercato.com details how Gosens turned down an offer from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer due to his desire to make things work at Inter, not wanting to leave “one of the best clubs in the world”, he explained to the German media.

The former Atalanta full back is convinced that he can be a real asset for the Nerazzurri and is not interested in any transfer market noise for the time being, wanting to prove his qualities on the pitch under Inzaghi.

Gosens has only made one start in Serie A this season and he’ll take stock of the situation in a month’s time, when the World Cup break is near and Germany announce their squad for the tournament.

The next few weeks will prove key for the German’s future in black and blue and he’s not willing to give up just yet.

  1. Well, I’m not one to give advice freely to the club that stole one of our best players for petty cash, but maybe if they gave him some consistent playing time, things could be different… Why take him if you can’t even see that?!

  2. As good as Gosens is when healthy, Di Marco isn’t going away any time soon. DI Marco will be starting wingback for Inter and Italy for the next few years.
