Georginio Wijnaldum’s Roma adventure started in the worst possible way as he suffered a fractured tibia but he finally took a small step forward today.

The 31-year-old Dutch midfielder joined the Giallorossi on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, keen to relaunch his career after a tough year in the French capital, but things started in the worst fashion as he suffered a broken leg only weeks into his time in Italy.

Wijnaldum posted an update on his recovery on Instagram today, revealing that he’s now removed the leg cast and has started to walk slowly again, albeit with the support of crutches.

The former Liverpool man now begins the long part of his recovery, which’ll take a few months considering the seriousness of the injury.

The Giallorossi have been waiting patiently to see the talented Dutchman on the pitch and they’ll have to wait a little while longer before he’s able to show his best under Jose Mourinho.
