Juventus star Federico Chiesa won’t be involved in today’s friendly against Standard Liege, but reports in Italy suggest the Italy international keeps training at Continassa.

Chiesa was expected to get some playing time in the last match of the year at the Allianz Stadium today, but Juventus have confirmed that the ex-Fiorentina winger won’t even be on the bench against Belgian side Standard Liege.

Fans feared Chiesa had suffered a new injury, but according to Romeo Agresti, the 25-year-old is training at Continassa and hasn’t been included in the team only as a precaution.

Chiesa has been training with the rest of the group at Continassa over the last few days and made his return to action after a severe knee injury in November.

Chiesa has scored 18 goals in 64 appearances in Turin since his initial loan move from Fiorentina in 2020.

He is expected to be available for Juventus’ first match of the year against Cremonese on January 4.
