It now remains to be seen where De Rossi will go, but the most likely alternative would seem to be Sampdoria.

They just appointed ex-Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco today and their President, Massimo Ferrero, is a proud Giallorossi supporter from the streets of the Capital.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Samp already made an offer a month ago, but De Rossi’s circumstances have now changed.

Ferrero has also made an offer for another Roma outcast, Francesco Totti, to join Samp in a directorial role.

Other options include Inter, Milan or Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina, with new owner Rocco Commisso eager to bring in star names.

Atalanta could be intriguing, as they enter the Champions League for the first time.
