Paris Saint-Germain are still openly pursuing Inter defender Milan Skriniar, as transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reveals more details of how those negotiations developed.
The Ligue 1 giants are making no attempt to disguise their interest in Skriniar, publicly stating they wanted to sign him and remain interested in snapping him up as a free agent when his contract expires in June 2023.
That includes attempting to almost double the salary package on offer for his renewal, going from €6m plus bonuses to €10m plus add-ons.
Nonetheless, Inter and Skriniar remain firm in their desire to continue together.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Di Marzio, the talks began in earnest on July 8, 2022 in a special dinner between Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and PSG consultant Antero Henrique in Milan.
Henrique had already met with Sassuolo earlier that day to discuss a bid for Gianluca Scamacca, who would go on to sign for West Ham United.
The €50m offer for Skriniar was rejected, then increased a month later, reportedly reaching as much as €70m including various bonuses.
