Romelu Lukaku has not still returned to squad training but Belgium are confident that he’ll be fit enough to contribute to their World Cup campaign.

The 29-year-old striker has had a difficult time of things following his €8m loan move to Inter in the summer, returning only a year after his €113m move to Chelsea. Lukaku has been sidelined for the majority of this season with a hamstring injury and his spot at the World Cup seemed in doubt, but Roberto Martinez ultimately showed trust in the centre forward.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Belgium don’t expect to have Lukaku available for their opening game at the World Cup against Canada on November 23. The Inter striker will undergo another MRI scan next week which’ll shed further light on his condition.

It also seems hard to imagine Lukaku being fit enough to take part in the game against Morocco on November 27, so Belgium are hoping that the 29-year-old is fully fit in time for the Croatia clash on December 1.
