Miguel Alfano, a member of Luis Alberto’s entourage, discussed his ongoing difficulties at Lazio this season.

The 30-year-old Spanish midfielder has fallen down the pecking order in the Italian capital this season, mostly being used off the bench by Maurizio Sarri. Luis Alberto has only made five Serie A starts this campaign but has still managed to score three goals and provide one assist, showing that he’s still capable of producing quality when relied on.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Alfano discussed Luis Alberto’s situation at Lazio and what could happen next.

“Luis Alberto’s situation will be handled according to the logic of what is happening. Everything is respectable and it is rightly up to the coach to decide and choose.

“But it is also respectable that a player, who is already part of the club’s history, who has won, who has given so much and is still giving everything for Lazio, doesn’t feel comfortable in a situation like this.

“Therefore, both the club and us want to find a way not to continue living with an uncomfortable situation, as Luis Alberto wants to confirm that he still has many years of football and career ahead of him. And cycles can end sooner or later.”

The 30-year-old Luis Alberto was heavily linked with a move to Sevilla in the summer but a deal never materialised, leaving him in the Italian capital for another year. Recent media reports also linked the Spaniard with a move to Atletico Madrid or Valencia.

Luis Alberto has scored 44 goals and provided 62 assists in 236 games across all competitions for Lazio.
