Olivier Giroud’s representatives met with Milan today to discuss a new contract and the two parties still need to agree on some details, reports highlight.

The 2018 World Cup winner has proven himself an important part of Stefano Pioli’s squad since his arrival from Chelsea in July 2021, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists in 65 appearances across all competitions.

Despite being 36, Giroud has featured prominently for Milan this season, playing 1821 minutes of action across 27 appearances, proving reliable amidst the club’s injury crisis.

As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio, a difference of around €200,000 to 300,000 separates Giroud and Milan in the contract renewal talks. The French veteran currently earns around €3.7m net per season including add-ons, and is now asking for €3.7m net plus add-ons.

The Rossoneri’s current offer has reached a maximum of €3.5m, forcing the two parties to continue negotiations. A new meeting will take place soon but both are keen to maintain their working relationship.
