The 23-year-old Poland international has been a sensation in his debut Italian campaign, scoring 19 goals in 21 competitive games.

According to Sportitalia, West Ham approached Genoa with a proposal worth €35m, but Genoa rejected it outright.

The asking price is €40m plus €5-6m in various bonuses and Sky Sport Italia insist they won’t accept any loan with option to buy.

Milan are the favourites, as they need a striker to replace Gonzalo Higuain, who is pushing for a move to Chelsea.

“We’re awaiting offers for Piatek,” Genoa director Giorgio Perinetti told RMC Sport this morning.

“Until now there haven’t been any official ones, only enquiries. Milan know we’d like to keep the player until June, but we’ll evaluate any offers that come our way.

“It’s not our intention to sell it now, although we may be swayed if we receive a substantial offer.”
