Wenger is in Rome today in order to participate in the Match for Peace, a charity event organised by Pope Francis.

“I am not in Rome for transfer business, but until the end things can still happen. At the moment there’s nothing, though,” he told La Repubblica.

“What is my last wish on the transfer market? To sign a player before midnight.”

Wenger also spoke about the Match for Peace, which has drawn players from all over the world.

“The Pope is a man of great charisma and I am struck by the passion he transmits. We are here to urge peace in the world and because football represents good values.

“It is a great opportunity to prove that tonight with a festival of football.”
