Wembley will be sold out for tomorrow’s Euro 2020 clash between Italy and Austria, despite fans being told not to travel to London.

The Round of 16 kicks off on Saturday at 20.00 UK time.

According to Sky Sport Italia, all the tickets have been sold for the game, so circa 22,000, as the arena is still open only to 25 per cent capacity due to social distancing guidelines.

Of those 22,000, there are 1,200 sold to Italian fans, but all of them are already residents in the United Kingdom.

Like Italy, Austria’s foreign ministry also urged football supporters not to travel to England for the match, due to the elevated number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Delta variant is fuelling a rapid growth of cases and hospitalisations.

There are circa 700,000 Italians living and working in the United Kingdom.

The Italy squad landed in London this evening and they are expected to remain in the country for just 30 hours before flying back on Saturday night.
