Maurizio Sarri has outlined Empoli’s intention to ‘make life difficult’ for Roma as he refuses to ‘lose twice’ to the capital club.

The Azzurri play host to the Giallorossi in their first home match of the season since their return to Serie A.

Whilst overwhelmingly tipped for defeat on Saturday evening, their Coach has pressed that they are not defeated before even kicking a ball.

“We want to make their life difficult,” Sarri has told today’s pre-match Press conference.

“We know that it will not be easy, but we will try to keep the game in balance, doing what we can with our strength – we do not want to lose the game twice, first during the week in feeling inferior and then on the field.

“Roma are a team that are overwhelming at times, but even when they do not seem to have the game in hand, they can hurt you on the counter-attack.

“We will play our game, trying to make the most of our features and taking advantage of our quality – we are not a team that closes up for the result – only through our values will we collect points.

“We come from the good performance against Udinese [in Week 1], which left a bad taste in our mouth for having experienced the defeat.

“Tomorrow we start again, knowing that we face a team that wants to succeed.”

Sarri was asked who he feared the most from Roma’s squad.

“Picking a name only takes away from the others, because there are so many important players.

“It is needless to mention individuals, because I believe Roma are a team well equipped, not only for the League but also for Europe.”
