The fans have voiced their discontent, but Colantuono kept his distance when questioned about the tension between club and supporters.

“I’ve only been here for a few months so I can’t judge the fans’ protests, I don’t want to get into it,” he said at today’s Press conference ahead of the league match against Milan on Tuesday.

“I already said on Sunday that whoever comes to the stadium is free to do what they want. I think that over the years the relationship between the public and the club has helped a lot.

“I can only say that we need our fans. With a bit of good will everything can be put right.

“If there are some whistles then we have probably deserved them. But we’re thinking about playing well and fighting for every ball.”
