According to Sky Sport Italia, the two clubs have shaken hands on the transfer for a fee of around €9.7m.

They will now discuss the details of the contract with the player, who scored four goals and provided six assists in Serie A this season.

It’s reported he will have his wages doubled to €1.4m per season, but is still unconvinced by the idea of moving to England.

Sky suggest he would prefer to join a Spanish side like Valencia or remain at Genoa.

Watford are owned by the Pozzo family, who also run Udinese in Italy and Spanish side Granada.
