Enzo Francescoli, who was named as one of Cagliari’s best ever players, returned to Sardinia today to watch the match against Sassuolo.

The Uruguayan joined the Rossoblu in 1990 after the World Cup in Italy and he quickly became a fan favourite due to his elegant and creative playing style, earning him the nickname ‘El Príncipe’.

Francescoli spent three seasons with Cagliari, scoring 19 goals and providing three assists in 104 appearances, and despite only spending three years in Sardinia, he’s regarded as one of their greatest ever players. He spent one season with Torino before returning to River Plate in 1994.
