Former Roma striker Rudi Voller is unsurprised by how well Miroslav Klose has settled into his new life at Lazio.

The 33-year-old joined the capital outfit in the summer after his contract at Bayern Munich had expired.

The international arrived having scored just four League goals for Bayern over the previous two seasons, but he’s already bagged six in 10 Serie A games.

“Why should I be surprised? Klose is an excellent striker and it is only normal that he would do well in Italy,” Voller told the Corriere dello Sport.

“Great attackers remain great attackers and, even if time goes by, they never lose their goal touch,” he continued.

“Miro has had some amazing years in his career and he’s won numerous honours with Bayern Munich. Now he’s found another great club in the form of Lazio and he’ll continue to do well.”

Serie A has a history of successful German forwards such as Voller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jurgen Klinsmann and Oliver Bierhoff.

“There is no secret to German strikers,” the former international boss added. “All of us scored a lot of goals in Germany.

“Who has quality can play in any League – Germany, Italy, England. You also have to admit that our championship is not that different to Serie A.

“I really like Klose and I gave him his first German cap. I was convinced that he could do great things and I wasn’t wrong.

“He’s a reference point for the German national team because, apart from his ability in front of goal, he is tactically intelligent.”
