There are reports Fiorentina have decided to cut their losses and sell Mario Gomez to Swansea after recent poor form.

The German centre-forward arrived with great prestige from Bayern Munich in July 2013, but has been injured for most of the last year and a half.

His wages still stand at €4.5m per season and this is why the club is looking to off-load the player.

There are reports of a proposal from Swansea City, who are seeking a replacement for Wilfried Bony.

Gomez managed a grand total of 30 games for Fiorentina in all competition, scoring five goals.

He has netted just once in the last nine months and missed a series of sitters this season with Coach Vincenzo Montella confirming there was a “psychological block.”

The tactician also suggested it was “time to look at the overall picture, because we expect more from him.”

Today agent Ulrich Ferber told Das Spiegel that these comments were “absolutely unjustifiable and in such a delicate situation are counter-productive for everyone.”

Now Calciomercato.com claim the Viola have lost hope the 29-year-old will regain his scoring touch to quite the same degree as earlier in his career.

Gomez simply has not been the same since sustaining a knee injury on September 15 2013.
