The tactician has been rather pessimistic this season compared to the last, confessing he was no longer able to “dream” and suggesting Federico Bernardeschi belonged at “a more ambitious club.”

His contract is due to expire at the end of the season and it’s widely believed there will be no extension, but the situation could come to a head before that.

The fans are also turning against him, as banners appeared overnight in Florence on the gates of the Stadio Franchi.

‘Sousa, you don’t think you’re a hypocrite? So quit! Damn Gobbo’ read one (Gobbo is an insulting term for Juventus, here referencing his past in a Bianconeri jersey.

‘We dream and create pressure… you Sousa just create depression.’

The banners were signed by a group from the Curva Fiesole.
