Michal Bilek was aware of the tough task ahead of Viktoria Plzen as they prepare for their Champions League clash against Inter.

The Czech side lost their European opener to Barcelona 5-1 at the Camp Nou last week and they’re hoping to pull off an upset over the Nerazzurri in front of their home fans tomorrow. A good result against Inter would give Viktoria Plzen heaps of confidence as they prepare for a long 2022-23 campaign.

Speaking in a press conference, Bilek first discussed the qualities of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.

“They have no weaknesses. They’re a very strong team, with two strikers like Dzeko and Lautaro, very strong, but the same goes for the midfielders.

“They are good at attacking quickly, we will have to be careful not to give them space in the final third.”

He commented on if he expects to have a better chance of scoring points against the Nerazzurri compared to either Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

“When we saw the draw, we knew it would be a very difficult group to face. But it’s important for us to play at home, our fans push us forward, we have to play our chances.

“They are three teams at the same level, all the games in the group will be very difficult. And having the fans pushing us, I repeat myself, is a fundamental thing.”

The Viktoria Plzen coach touched on if he expects a different game against Inter compared to last week’s loss to Barcelona.

“It was a game we expected to be difficult at Camp Nou, but in general we prepare for every game in the same way.

“For us it’s important to be in the group stage of the Champions League, we have to prepare for all of them to the maximum.”

Bilek spoke about if the Czech side were ready to face Bosnian veteran Edin Dzeko.

“He is one of the best strikers there is, and the fact that he plays for Inter proves it. We have to be careful with him, we must not let him get in front of the goal because he always manages to score. That’ll be important.”

Finally, Bilek discussed if he thinks Inter will be under more pressure tomorrow following their loss to Bayern.

“All Inter players are professionals and a lost game, even in the Champions League, doesn’t affect them.

“They know there are other games to play, we expect to be ready and make things difficult for them.”
