“It is a strange season, we started well and hope to continue like this,” President Vigorito told Sky Sport Italia after two wins and a 5-2 defeat to Inter.

“When we were in Serie A last time, we didn’t get our first point until 15 rounds in, so we’re already on track to beat our points record…”

Le Streghe are not holding back, fielding Iago Falque, Gianluca Lapadula and Gianluca Caprari against Roma.

“Our coach says that if you face a great opponent, you’ll conceded sooner or later, so you may as well for it and try to score goals as well. We don’t intend to change the Benevento style of football, as we prefer to maintain our identity.

“Inzaghi lives for football, his passion and love are so much that I think he’d happily be training kids at the local school. He couldn’t live without football and I admire that passion.”

Are Benevento hoping to follow in the footsteps of Atalanta?

“The Percassi family set up a solid infrastructure with clear ideas and financial stability. I don’t say that I want to imitate them, but rather learn the best elements and add some of our own to create another way of achieving those results.”
