The Nerazzurri are due to present their Bosman capture from Manchester United on Friday, but ahead of that comes speculation that he may take on the armband vacated this summer by the retiring Javier Zanetti.
It is believed to be a move both Coach Walter Mazzarri and President Erick Thohir are behind, but one that could have ramifications with regards to Andrea Ranocchia.
The 26-year-old was seen as in line to take the captaincy as part of agreeing to a new long-term deal to stay at San Siro.
Should Vidic take the armband instead, it is seen that Ranocchia’s preparedness to commit to the club won’t necessarily be there.
