Nicolò Fagioli scored a spectacular strike to open the scoring for Juventus against Cremonese, but there is a reason why he refused to celebrate.

The midfielder was in the right place at the right time to meet the Federico Chiesa lay-off on the edge of the box and smashed a right-foot rocket into the roof of the net past Marco Carnesecchi.

However, despite this remarkable goal to break the deadlock in a tight game, 22-year-old Fagioli did not celebrate.

This is because he spent four years playing in the Cremonese youth academy before he was purchased by Juventus in 2015.

He also returned there last season on loan and helped them earn the totally unexpected promotion to the top flight, providing three goals and seven assists in Serie B.

It was certainly a different scene to a month ago against Sassuolo, when Fagioli was substituted after an error that gave away a goal and burst into tears on the bench, consoled by his older teammates.

This was his third goal of the season, all in Serie A.
