Roma supporters have delivered on a request from Jose Mourinho to give the players ‘something special’ heading into their crucial Serie A fixture against Salernitana on Monday evening, as thousands of fans lined the streets to cheer as the team bus made its way to the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking after reaching the Europa League at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday evening, the Special One asked that the supporters make themselves heard when the Giallorossi return to domestic action.

Armed with flares, flags and banners, Roma fans cheered and chanted as the players were escorted to the stadium.

Roma have slipped to seventh in the Serie A table, having gone five games without a win in the division, and now require a miracle if they are to finish the season in the top four spots.

Mourinho and his team need a major swing in results elsewhere if they are to pull off the unthinkable, and also realistically require maximum points from all three of their remaining fixtures, starting with the visit from Salernitana on Monday evening.

Failing that, the Europa League final against Sevilla also presents a major opportunity to qualify for the 2023-24 edition of the Champions League.
