There was a bizarre incident in the game against Napoli when the referee and Venezia defender Tyronne Ebuehi needed treatment for a clash of heads.
Ebuehi evident wasn’t looking where he was going at the dawn of the second half at the Stadio Luigi Penzo, as he ran straight into referee Maurizio Mariani.
Both men needed patching up with bandages, as it seems the VAR earpiece worn by Mariani did the damage to both the referee’s ear and Ebuehi’s eyebrow, causing some nasty cuts.

Italian refs should work on their positioning, from what I’ve seen they get in the way significantly more often than their colleagues from the other top leagues. Not to say that this was the case here, I don’t think it was, just speaking in general.
