Fiorentina director Joe Barone confronted an angry fan outside the Stadio Franchi on Sunday after a 1-1 draw against Empoli.
La Viola were held to a 1-1 draw by their local rivals and had to thank Arthur Cabral for a late goal that allowed them to get away with a point.
There is growing frustration at the Stadio Franchi as Fiorentina’s only Serie A win in 2023 came on January 7 against Sassuolo.
One fan confronted director Barone just outside the Franchi after the final whistle, but more Fiorentina supporters backed the person arguing with Barone in a video going viral on social media.
The fan asked Barone: ‘Who are you?’ And he replied: ‘I am Joe Barone, you?’
Other fans blamed the club director and were heard shouting ‘go home’ and ‘spend the money.’
Fiorentina sit 14th in the Serie A table, seven points below a Conference League spot currently occupied by Juventus and eight above the relegation zone.
