Arturo Vidal said Leo Messi is “simply the best,” but Juventus can still beat Barcelona in the Champions League Final.

The midfielder spoke to Argentine newspaper Olè about the showdown in Berlin on Saturday night.

“We are living through the perfect year,” smiled Vidal. “We won the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and are in the Champions League Final, which was the dream we had left.

“We hope to end the year on a high too. We had confidence, but it was very difficult to get here. It took us a while to qualify through the group, but suddenly we found our form.

“When there was the draw for the semi-final, people said we were the weakest team, but we knew our potential. We have experienced players, every game we play is an improvement and we were always thinking we could get to the Final.

“What do I think of Messi? He’s simply the best. What more can I say?”

Vidal also spoke of his “very difficult” childhood, love for horses (“even though one bit me!”) and bond with teammate Carlos Tevez.

“Carlos and I are very much alike, as we come from the same sort of background. We’ve both lived through difficult situations and I think that helps our rapport on the field. We understand each other straight away.

“Of course he always tells me he wants to play for Boca Juniors, just as I one day want a return to Colo Colo. These are the clubs where we grew up and we still watch their games.”
