Vicenza Calcio are on the verge of bankruptcy after their players went on strike due to unpaid wages and a Press conference is planned.

The Lanerossi finished second in the 1972-73 Serie A season, while under Coach Francesco Guidolin they won the Coppa Italia in 1997, then reached the Cup Winners’ Cup semi-finals.
Vicenza are currently in Serie C/Lega Pro and their players have not been paid since September.

It’s reported the squad has gone on strike and will not attend tomorrow’s planned Coppa Italia game against Padova.
The club imposed a Press silence, but the players and Coach Zanini are expected to break that order and speak to the media today.
According to reports, the club proposed a €30,000 total payment to be split between squad and staff to keep them going through the next game, but it was rejected.
“The meeting was disappointing, almost farcical,” said Players Association representative Grazioli.
Coach Nicola Zanini already broke the embargo and gave an interview to Radio 24.
“I am not ashamed to say that I spoke to the landlords of some lads and begged them to have patience, because the players are meant to earn €1,000-1,500 per month and haven’t seen a salary for months.”
The team has called a Press conference at the Stadio Menti for this afternoon and invited the fans to an open training session.
