Gianluca Vidal reveals there are some groups interested in buying Sampdoria, but Gianluca Vialli won’t become the new President of the Blucerchiati.

Vidal is at the helm of the trust named ‘Rosan’ and is the legal owner of Sampdoria after Massimo Ferrero’s arrest on Monday.

This means that any investor interested in acquiring the club must hold talks with Vidal and his group.

“We hope Ferrero can clarify his position. It’s sad to see a 70-year-old person with two kids in jail. Humanly speaking, we are close to him,” Vidal told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I can say that multiple subjects have shown interest in buying the club, we are doing preliminary assessments.”

Sampdoria and Chelsea legend Gianluca Vialli had been tipped to become the new club President, but Vidal has ruled out that the former striker will cover such a role.

“There won’t be famous faces, Vialli, Zanetton, Dinan or Knaster are not involved.”

Vialli played eight seasons at Sampdoria, scoring 141 goals in 328 games.

He won the only Serie A title in the club’s history in 1990-91, losing the European Cup Final (today’s Champions League) against Barcelona in 1992.

A Ronald Koeman’s goal helped the Catalans win the Final at Wembley, where, 29 years later, Vialli and Roberto Mancini won the Euros with Italy.

Vialli is currently part of Mancini’s technical staff with the Azzurri.
