The Bianconeri confirmed their sixth Scudetto in a row at the weekend, and the goalkeeper has been present for all of them.

“I take my hat off to Juve,” Vialli told La Stampa.

“The club, the players, the Coach [Max Allegri]. The club hasn’t made a mistake in all these years, the took the right players at the right time and gave them what they needed to give their best.

“The group responded in a big way, and the six lads who won all of the Scudetti – Buffon, [Andrea] Barzagli, [Leonardo] Bonucci, [Giorgio] Chiellini, [Stephan] Lichtsteiner and [Claudio] Marchisio – deserve to enter the Italian football hall of fame.

“Allegri? He had a very complicated job, when he replaced [Antonio] Conte he had everything to lose, he’s done really well to analyse every situation.

“He’s managed the group in a fantastic way, because winning all the time and being hungry like those who have never won is the most difficult thing.

“As for Buffon, he’s the symbol of these Scudetti. He’s a reference point, someone you’d always want by your side.

“He represents everything it means to be Juve: hunger, humility, ruthlessness, a sense of belonging. Even at 39.”
