Andrea Mandorlini says Verona will pay Cagliari the ‘utmost respect’, but believes ‘every game has its own story’.

The Sardinians travel out to the Bentegodi tomorrow evening looking to follow up last weekend’s shock 4-1 win at Inter, whilst the Gialloblu must bounce back from defeat to Roma.

For the Butei’s Coach, Cagliari’s result last weekend has to be acknowledged, but it doesn’t guarantee how things will swing in Week 6.

“We were impressed by their game against Inter, they scored four goals and missed a penalty kick in the first half,” began Mandorlini at today’s Press conference.

“They are a team that is good, whilst their win will have given them enthusiasm and awareness. They come into this match off the back of a great achievement, whilst from the physical point of view they will be a very formidable opponent.

“Then, every game has its own story. The Inter-Cagliari one began in one direction and ended up in another.

“We have the utmost respect for every opponent, we will look to take good care of our in-game situations and to pay particular attention to their attacking phase, which is a real jewel in the crown of any team coached by Zeman.

“They play to attack and we must be good to hold and to put them under pressure. For us it will be crucial to find the victory.”

Mandorlini was asked about coming up against Zdenek Zeman.

“He has much more experience than me. The challenge is between two teams, not two Coaches. Cagliari did not seem to be in form and then against Inter they played a great game, whilst we have to improve on some situations.

“Zeman has changed something in his game and so have I. Everyone has their own way, some straight, some with many turns. Zeman is a very consistent Coach and in many situations perhaps this consistency has paid.

“He has coached major teams and has demonstrated something in many places. In others, perhaps things did not go so well.”
