Verona have told Porto they will take up their €15m option to sign Juan Iturbe, but his agent noted he’ll “favour Italy” if top clubs call.

The 20-year-old Argentina talent arrived on loan last summer and from the start it was fairly clear Hellas would not let him get away.

Now it’s reported Porto have received an official communication from Verona confirming they will activate the buy-out option for €15m.

This will put Verona in a position to spark a bidding war, which could involve Napoli, Roma, Inter, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid, among others.

“This is something that regards Hellas,” agent Isidoro Gimenez told Tuttomercatoweb.

“For now we are awaiting news from Verona. Iturbe will remain there until May, then we’ll see if Hellas buy out the player.

“ We’ll see what happens after that, but I cannot say anything because at the moment no club has spoken to me about making an offer to Verona in the summer.

“At the moment he is happy at Verona, but it’s beyond doubt he is liked throughout Europe. The boy’s intentions are to stay in Italy. He is happy here, so remaining in Serie A is first and foremost on the agenda.

“Having said that, it requires a club that will seriously build on his quality. He contributed to Verona’s good season and is happy with his choice to come here.”
